How to beam a quiz and slide?
After you finish adding questions, you can click on the Beam button on the top right to beam/present it to any class section.
How to Beam a Quiz or Slide?
You can start a beam (presentation) in two ways:
From the Live Polling Dashboard:
If you're in "My Bank" viewing quizzes or slides, you'll see a "Beam" option on each card. Click it, and a pop-up will let you choose the class section, beam mode, and grading options.
While Authoring:
Click the "Beam" button in the top-right corner. A pop-up will appear, allowing you to select the class section, beam mode, and grading.
Beaming Modes
You can choose from these modes in the pop-up:
Standard Mode: Each student works individually and is graded on their performance. (The idea is to create a link in each mode here so people can click and redirect to it - this is just a brief explanation of each mode)
Group Mode: Students work in groups, with each student assigned a role for each question. Roles are shuffled after each question.
Cooperative Mode: Combines individual and group work. Students start individually and then transition to group mode for collaboration.

Select "Standard Mode."
Choose whether to grade the beam ("Yes" or "No").
Click "Proceed."
Start the Beam:
A new page with the beam overview will open.
Choose either Instructor-led or Student-paced mode.
Click "Start Beam."
Your beam has now started! Students will now be able to view the question and submit their answers.

What we can do after starting a standard beam?
In Standard Mode, the settings panel allows you to control student activity with the following options:
Advance Settings
Change the beam mode:
Instructor-led beam
Student-paced beam (free play mode)

It is divided into two sections:
1. General setting
Beam Play Modes: Switch between Instructor-led and Student-paced modes.
Enable /disable confidence level.
2. Feedback setting
Choose when to provide feedback: Immediately or after the beam.
Enable/disable grade points and/or correct responses as feedback.

2. Group Mode
(GIGLA- Guided Inquiry Learning Group Activities)
In this mode, each student is assigned a role to answer each question, the roles are:

Configure a group mode beam:
Select "Group Mode."
Enable/disable grading.
Click "Proceed."
Step1: Beam Details page
This is a beam overview page with beam information like (Beam name, class section, Beam mode, quiz code, passcode, and no of attendees). Settings you will be able to edit:
Beam mode: To change the beam mode from Student-Paced to Instructor-Led, simply select the appropriate option in the settings.
Passcode: You can enable the passcode; students will need this code to enter the beam.
Click "Select Groups."
A group configuration page will open.
Step2: Group Configuration page
The beam configuration page contains -
Group configuration modes: Randomize Groups, Create groups Manually and Use previous group Collection.
Group roles in the activity- Explain the role of each role.
A. Create groups using Randomize groups
Click on the "Group Configuration Modes" dropdown and choose Randomize Groups:
If you choose it, the students part of the beam will be randomly assigned a group. As you click this option other options open:
Select the number of students per group.
Change the group names from alphabetical to numerical.
Click "Create groups" on the right-bottom.
A new window will open where you can add students to groups. Once you've added all the students and deleted any empty groups, the "Start Beam" button will activate.
Click "Start Beam" and your beam has now started!
*Note
Until you delete the empty groups, the "Start Beam" option will not activate.

How to add student(s) to groups?
You have the following options on the right-top corner of the page :
Remove Empty Groups: You have the following options on the right-top corner of the page
Re-Shuffle Groups: When you choose to 'randomize groups', you get an additional selection to 're-shuffle groups' which reshuffles the students yet again and assigns a random group.
Add Group: Click on add group.
To add students in groups drag and drop them in groups
B. Create groups using Create Groups Manually.
If you select Create Groups Manually, you can either allow students to enter a group on their own or assign them to a group.
Select the number of group(s).
Choose whether you want your group(s) named either alphabetically or numerically.
Enable "Ask students to join" to allow students to enter their groups on their own. If disabled, students will not be able to join on their and you need to add them to groups.
Click "Create group" on the right-bottom.
A new window will open where:
If "Ask students to join" is enabled, then students can enter groups on their own, and you'll see groups start to get populated. If needed, you can move students, b/w groups.
If "Ask students to join" is disabled, then you would have to add each student to their groups manually.
Once all the students are part of their groups, you can delete the empty groups*.
Click "Start Beam" to begin!
*Note:
Until you delete the empty groups, the "Start Beam" option will not be activated.

A new window will open where you can see the groups. You can add groups/move students if needed.
Click "Start Beam" and your beam has now started!
How to view groups and modify students?
You have the following options on the right-top corner of the page :

What we can do after starting a group beam?
Voila! Now the beam has begun. Students will now start answering questions. You can seamlessly switch between 'Question View' and 'Group View' in free-play mode.
You can see each group's progress in 'Group View'.
If you wish to view group responses for each question then you can switch to 'Question View'.

Click Add or Modify Groups. This will open a new page where you can add or remove students.

To add students to the groups from the student roster:
1st way:
Drag and drop student cards to the particular group.
2nd way:
Hover over the student card and add student to option will appear. You can move the students to any group.
To move students to the other groups:

If you hover over the student card two icons will appear:
Delete button: Remove the student from the group
Add students to: You can move students to different groups
Group Mode's Advanced settings
Advanced settings have two sections:
1. General setting
Beam Play Modes- Change the student's pace to the instructor's beam.
Enable /disable confidence level
2. Feedback setting
Choose when to provide feedback
Immediate: Provides feedback immediately after students answer a question.
After the beam: Provides feedback to students only after the beam is 'finished'.
Enable or disable grade points as feedback.
Note: Shows points scored for a question as part of feedback.
Enable or disable correct response as feedback.

3. Cooperative Mode
Cooperative Mode allows you to conduct a quiz or lecture in real-time with students, both individually and in groups. It improves student’s conceptual understanding through retention. A seamless combination of Individual Mode and GILGA which encourages Cogitative Reflection.
Students begin in individual mode, and once they finish, they transition to group mode for collaborative activities. In group mode, students are assigned specific roles for better collaboration.

Configure a group mode beam:
In the pop-up, after selecting the class section follow the following steps to start the group mode beam:
Select "Cooperative Mode" from the beam type options.
You can enable/disable grading.
You can mark whether you have DRC (Disability Resource Center) students or not. You can start the beam for DRC students early.
Click "Proceed" to continue, and a new window (Beam Detail Page) will open. If you click "Cancel," the pop-up will close.

This is a beam overview page with beam information like (Beam name, class section, total no of questions for individual and group mode, Beam mode, quiz code, passcode, and no of attendees). Settings you will be able to edit:
Beam mode: It is disabled here as the quiz starts with individual mode and it's based on student pace.
Passcode: You can enable the passcode; students will need this code to enter the beam.
Click "Select Groups."
A group configuration page will open.

Group configuration modes- There are three ways to create groups: Randomize Groups, Create groups Manually and Use previous group Collection.

*Note
You can start the beam without forming groups initially, but in this case, you must create the groups before students finish the individual mode, as they will need to transition to group mode afterwards. (It's only possible in cooperative mode beams.)
You can also start the beam even if there are no students in the beam.
In individual mode, you won't be able to change the beam mode to instructor-led mode but you can change it to group mode.
If you want to Start Beam without forming groups in cooperative modes.
To create groups later follow these steps:
- Click add or modify groups from the settings panel.
- A new window will appear where you can create groups, add students to groups (if you had selected randomise groups), or ask students to join the group (if you have selected Create groups manually.)

Enable or disable correct response as feedback.
3. Individual mode:
In Cooperative Mode, you can enable a penalty for students in group mode. If they don’t reach the set threshold, they will receive the penalty you’ve added.
Individual Mode Performance Threshold: Students scoring below this will be penalized for Group Mode.
Penalty for Group Mode: Identify the penalty % that would apply to the student’s group mode score.
To add the penalty you need to enable it and then set the threshold and the penalty.
